Great headphones, terrible name

My daily Examiner.com article for 1-12-11

Have you ever been wearing a pair of headphones and had them catch on something? They get pulled out of your ears and sometimes they even get broken. One company has created a pair of headphones that is supposed to combat that problem.

My daily Examiner.com article for 1-12-11

Jason Bornhorst, a former resident of Sugarcreek Twp. and Alter High School graduate, is responsible for creating a free app for the iPhone called DoGood. It is an app that gives you one good thing to do each day. It could be as simple as “Smile at someone” or “Give someone a compliment today”. Rumors still fly about a Verizon iPhone

My daily Examiner.com column for 1-8-11

Even before Apple released the very first iPhone in 2007, rumors have abounded about an iPhone on the Verizon network. As most people know, Apple signed an exclusive contract with AT&T to carry the iPhone. That exclusive contract is set to expire and, once again, the rumors mill is astir.

Facing Life

Now that I have moved back to Dayton, OH I am forced to face the reality that my Grandmother is in a nursing home. The last time I saw her was a little over a year ago (Christmas 2009). She was lucid then. We played cards together (yes, with REAL cards) and we had a very nice time together. She even made a comment about whether or not I would ever look back and remember that (this) time together. Now, I think about it all the time.

She's in a nursing home now in the "beginning" stages of dementia. I put that in quotes because I beg to differ with the term "beginning". While I haven't seen her yet, the way she is now, I have been getting updates from my parents. Half of the time she doesn't know who people are or where she is.

Which brings me to my current situation.

I need to go see her, but I'm scared. I'm scared of shattering the memory of the last time I saw her. When she still had a sparkle in her eyes and knew who I was. Her Grandson.

I lost my maternal Grandmother a couple years ago and I'm still reeling from that. But I know that I should feel lucky that my paternal Grandmother is still around. Even if her mental capacity is waning.

I'll go see her in a few days.

I think I'll take a pack of playing cards with me too.

My first Examiner article written from Dayton

I have just posted my first article under my NEW title of Dayton Technology Examiner. I will miss writing as Toledo's Tech Examiner, but to be honest, there is more to write about here in Dayton.

Here it is:

Dayton Technology Examiner

As some of you know, I have been writing a column for Examiner.com as their Toledo Technology Examiner. Now that I have moved to Dayton, OH, I am lucky enough to have secured the Dayton Technology Examiner position.

I will be taking a few days to get settled, but look for my new column on Examiner.com. I will, of course, post here when that happens.
